China Jewish Heritage Tour

Jewish had a long history in China since the introduction through the Silk Road in the 7th century. The Jewish firstly settled in Chang'an (present day Xi'an) that was the largest city in the world then. Later, the Jewish spread to other cities in China. Today Jewish heritages have been discovered in Dunhuang, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Harbin and Quanzhou. In recently Chinese history, Shanghai became the most famous city for Jewish people because of its camp for Jewish refugees in the WWII. Today there is a Jewish Area remaining in Shanghai that attracts many Jewish tourists.

Now, more and more Jewish tourists come to China to commemorate the past life and friendship between Chinese people and Jewish people. A normal China Jewish Heritage Tour is recommended as follows:

Day 1 Arrive in Beijing
Day 2: Full-day in Beijing: Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace.
Day 3: Great Wall tour: Great Wall Ming TombsM, Kung Fu Show.
Day 4: Fly to Zhengzhou. Visit Provincial Museum, Shabbat service and dinner with a local Jewish family.
Day 5: Zhengzhou – Kaifeng – Luoyang. Visit the synagogue complex of Jewish Community. Travel to Luoyang
Day 6: Luoyang tour to Longmen Grottoes, Shaolin Temple, with a Kung Fu performance.
Day 7: Take soft-seat train to Xian. Visit City Wall.
Day 8: Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses, Huaqing Hot Springs, Banpo Museum, Tang Dynasty Show and Dumpling dinner.
Day 9: Fly to Shanghai. Take a Jewish heritage tour to the landmark constructions and sites in the history. After dinner, proceed for a city tour to Pudong New District – Shanghai's main financial district and enjoy a scenic night cruise on Huangpu River.
Day 10: Visit the world famous waterfront – The Bund. Free time at Nanjing Road.
Day 11: Depart
