The 2015 Dragon Canoe Festival kicked off on Friday in the Taijiang County, the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
The festival is held every year from May 25th to 27th on the Lunar Calendar, where thousands of Miao ethnic people participate in various celebration activities to pray for a year of harvest.
The canoe race often waves a climax of the festival, where race teams get dressed up in special racing uniforms that consist of purple jackets, blue trousers, golden bamboo hats and silver belts.
Singing and dancing are also among the most favorite celebration activities during the festival.
The Miao Dragon Canoe Festival has been listed as state-level intangible cultural heritage in China since 2008.
