Beijing Grand View Garden (Chinese name Daguanyuan) is a classical Chinese garden laid out according to descriptions in A Dream of Red Mansions, an ancient Chinese literary masterpiece. It is a large garden dotted with delicate pavilions, grand halls, courtyards and winding streams. In the garden, visitors can meditate on the past as if they were in a beautiful dream. Since it opened to the public in 1986, the garden has been widely recognized and gained a range of titles such as inclusion in the "Top 16 Sites of New Beijing" and "Top 40 Tourist Attractions in China." During weekends or the frequent public hol idays from April to June, there are free performances, including Peking Opera, symphony, drama, play for children and traditional folk arts.
