(Shanghai Daily) About half the clothing and bags at Shanghai's two airports and nearby duty free shops do not meet quality standards, officials said yesterday.
Of 40 suitcases and bags tested at random from batches, 22 failed checks that included vibration, shock, seam strength and color fastness, the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau said. A batch of bags branded Folli Follie checked at T2 terminal of Hongqiao International Airport failed for vibration and shock resistance performance. Another batch of backpacks branded Lacoste sold at the same terminal were found substandard for vibration, shock resistance performance and seam strength. The seam strength of the backpacks was less than a third China's standards. A batch of handbags branded Salvatore Ferragamo sold at the same terminal failed for vibration and shock resistance, performance and color fastness to rubbing. The handbags were tested 18 times in vibration and shock resistance tests, and two metal rings connecting the handles failed. Source: Shanghai Daily
