Cambodia to offer 3-year multi-entry visas to Chinese investors


(CRI) Cambodia will offer 3-year multi-entry visas to Chinese investors, said Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Hun Sen made the announcement at the largest-ever Cambodia-China business and financial development forum that was held in the country's Phnom Penh on Thursday, Dec. 1.

China is the largest investor in the Southeast Asian country.

Chinese companies made a total of over 14-billion-U.S. dollar investments in Cambodia from 1994 to October of this year, according to the Council for Development of Cambodia.

Trade volume between the two countries was valued at 4.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2015, up 18 percent year-on-year.

The prime minister added that, in the tourism sector, China is the second largest source of tourists to Cambodia with some 700,000 Chi nese tourists visiting Cambodia in 2015.

He predicted the number of Chinese tourists will reach 800,000 this year, up 14 percent year-on-year.

Chinese President Xi Jinping made a state visit to Cambodia in October and the two countries signed a number of agreements covering areas such as agriculture, oceanic, energy, telecommunication, investment and infrastructure.
