Nongyong Primary School was built in 1964. It is located in Bansheng County, a rural area of karst topography in Guangxi.
Its initial school building consists of 12 one-storey houses.
In the 1990s, a two-storey teaching building and dormitory were built.
There are about 250 students from all 22 villages of Nongyong.
Every Monday, most of them have to walk over hills on their way to the school.
During weekdays, about 30 children share seven or eight beds in a small room less than 20 square meters.
Their main source of drinking water is recycle of rainwater.
