Chinese Airlines Have Better Safety Level

(CRI) Tony Tyler, CEO of International Air Transport Association (IATA), announced on April 22 that the hull loss rate of China's civil aviation stood at 0.06 for every one million flights, while the average rate for IATA members was 0.58 over the last 5 years.

This means China's aviation safety level is nearly 10 times of the globe average level.

A hull loss is an accident in which the airplane is destroyed or substantially damaged and cannot be repaired.

Data from IATA shows a total of 38 million flights safely arrived at the destinations in the world last year. The hull loss rate was only 0.23, which is equal to one accident for every 4.4 million flights. It was the lowest in aviation history.

IATA also said that the global airline companies are expected to create a 25-billion-U.S. dollar net profit in total in 2015. But, compared with a 783-billion-U.S. dollar industry revenue, the profit margin is only 3.2%.
