Royal Caribbean liner set to sail to Tianjin

(China Daily) Royal Caribbean International's third Quantum-class ship, Ovation of the Seas, will be based in Tianjin after it is completed next month. The Miami-based cruise company recently made the announcement in Beijing.

"Cruising has become very popular among Chinese consumers and we're already capturing their imagination about voyages with our advanced cruise ships," Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said at a press conference earlier this week.

Last August, the company started to cooperate with Tianjin Maritime College to train and employ Chinese talents. It now hopes to expand the program to recruit more students and work with more colleges in the country.

By 2016, Royal Caribbean will have a total of five ships docked in China — Shanghai, Tianjin, Hong Kong and Xiamen. The vessels will offer nonstop trips ranging from three to 12 days to other ports in China, and to Japan, South Korea and Vietnam. Ovation of the Seas will debut on a 52-day rip from Southampton, the United Kingdom, to Tianjin, starting next May.
