Top Most Attractions of Beijing – China

Beijing is a developed city of China and famous for its great culture and history. Beijing is the major hub of tourists in China that has over 10 millions of foreign visitors every year. Beijing is famous for its palaces, old temples, museums, beautiful gardens and best among all of them are the Great Wall of China. The suburbs of Beijing with its natural scenic beauty also lure many tourists and you can find hills, Karst caves, hot springs, lakes and so on.

Out of the forty tourist spots in Beijing, sixteen of them were selected in the year 1986 and named as the "sixteen sights of Beijing". The sixteen famous one are the Badaling Great wall, Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, Beihai Park, Fragrant Hill, Temple of Heaven, Shidu Scenic Spots, Longqing Gorge, Big Bell Temple, and Relics of Primitive at Zhoukoudian, Ming Tombs, White Dragon Pond, Mutianvu Great Wall, Grand View Garden, Forbidden City, and Lugou Bridge.

Badaling Great Wall: This wall is also known as the Great Wall of China and it is one among the world's eight wonders. The purpose of building the wall is to protect the country from invaders. The Great Wall passes through five provinces of China starting from the Shanhaiguan Pass to the Jiayuguan Pass. You can enjoy the scenery surrounding the wall, cable car ride, Great Wall Circle Vision Theatre and Great Wall Museum.

Summer Palace: The palace has the status of World Heritage site and it is famous for its ancient architecture. The Summer Palace comprises of amazing views, dozens of pavilions, extensive gardens, bridges and towers.

Forbidden City: This was the royal palace of both Qing and Ming dynasties and the palace consists of 9,999 rooms and numerous structures of attraction. The palace is surrounded by a six meters deep moat and high wall of ten meters. This palace was country's administrative centre for about five centuries.

Tiananmen Square: This is the world's largest city square situated in the center of the city. Tiananmen Square witnessed many historical events and it is surrounded by various important edifices like Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, Monument of People's Heroes and Great Hall of People.

Temple of Heaven: The emperors of Qing and Ming dynasties used it as the prayer grounds. The temple is the one of the most important place to worship in Beijing. The tourists can explore the temple in four main areas such as Vault of Heaven, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, Echo wall and Round Altar.

Shopping at Beijing

You can find several mega-malls, market and superstores at Beijing to purchase anything you required. You can purchase traditional handicrafts from many markets and business streets. The best known traditional handicrafts are Ivory carving, Lacquer, Jade and Cloisonne. Most of the tourists like artificial flowers, curios, silk, pearls and snuff bottles are available with pictures inside. Tourists also like to explore Xiushui Jie silk market and free market of Sanlitun. You can find franchised foreign brand shops in Silver Street at Dongdan Beidajie. Qianmen Street is also a commercial center for shopping.
