Anyone who intends to come to China to study in any of the prestigious universities or educational institutions is required to get a China student visa. Are you planning to get one soon? You should know that there are several types of Chinese student visas that are applied for and provided, depending on the program you are taking and the study duration. The country has to provide the right type of visa depending on your supposed and expected length of stay. There are two types of Chinese visas that are provided, the F and the X visas. Students who are set to study in the country for six months or less qualify for an F visa, while those who need to stay longer than 6 months are required to get and possess an X visa, which is often described as the actual China student visa. The latter also comes with a requirement to take a necessary physical examination. Is it possible not to get a Chinese student visa and still come to the country to study? What if there is a sudden decision to study while in the country? It is another option to take a tourist visa, also known as the L visa. You could opt to temporarily own an L visa while you arrange to apply for or get the applicable and more appropriate visa. Some students find it more effective and convenient to convert an L visa to a more suitable F or X visa while they are still completing and submitting necessary requirements to authorities. Chinese embassy application Applying for a student visa could be done in person. To do so, there is a need to come to any Chinese embassy or Chinese consulate in your country. Of course, you are required to bring necessary documentations. On the top of the list is a filled out visa application, which could be downloaded online or obtained from the office of the embassy or consulate. You also need to accomplish the JW101 or JW202 form, which is issued by no less than the China Ministry of Education. It would also help if you could present an invitation or enrollment letter from the Chinese education institution. It could be considered necessary in the application for China student visas. Of course, do not forget to bring at least two copies of your most recent passport pictures. Present your valid passport as well with at least six months of remaining travel permission or with at least a blank page. Prepare a visa application fee. Application through a Chinese student visa agent If applying in person through the China embassy or consulate is tedious for you, there is an option to course the entire process through a reliable and trustworthy Chinese visa agent. You may not need to come to the agent's office personally, but you could call the office to make arrangements on how required documents are to be sent or submitted. When applying for a China student visa through an agent, you may need to send your passport, still with at least one remaining blank page and with six months of remaining travel validity. Download, print, and fill up a visa application form and send it along with your actual passport, at least two passport size pictures, a letter of admission from the Chinese university (photocopy), and a completed JW101 or JW201 form. If you are applying for an X visa, you may need to send a copy of your physical examination certificate as well.
