(Shanghai Daily) Shanghai-based Juneyao Airlines yesterday said it will join Star Alliance next year as part of its plan to expand globally to meet the increasing demand of Chinese travelers.
The privately owned carrier will join the world's largest airline alliance as a "connecting partner" so that it can share codes, passengers and mileage programs with other member airlines such as Air China, Germany's Lufthansa and US-based United Airlines.
"Joining the alliance will allow the airline to expand its global network and offer our passengers convenience to transfer globally," said Wang Junjin, Juneyao's chairman.
Mark Schwab, CEO of Star Alliance, said: "Juneyao Airlines is also an addition to our network in China and particularly in the Shanghai market."
