Stepping into Wang Jiaqing, a hillside village group located at an altitude of 2,400 meters in Dongchuan, Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan Province, you come face to face with a truly stony world. Most of the houses and things people use in the vill age are made of stone, including tiles, roads, walls, grinding mills, stools, beds and even pillows. Villagers say that's because the village is remote and transportation is inconvenient but the area surrounded by rocky hills. The village has 417 residents from 104 families, most of whom have the surname Wang.
