China's Tourism Market Most Attractive for South Koreans

(CRI) A latest survey shows South Korea would become the largest oversea country for China's domestic tourism market in 2016.

Travel agency Ctrip said in its 2016 Inbound Travel Trend Analysis Report that historic deposits such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and Terra-Cotta Warriors are most popular destinations for foreigners.

The number of inbound tourists reached 133 million in 2015, up 4 percent year-on-year.

In the year of 2016, the number of tourists from Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan ranks top three in the inbound tourism list. The rank of Malaysia rose to the seventh place from the tenth in 2015, while Vietnam, the previous seventh largest inbound tourism source, dropped to the tenth.

The number of tourists from the top 10 inbound locations, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, has increased rapidly, up over 100 percent year-on-year.

South Korea has become the largest country of inbound tourism for China, with over three times as many trips taken compared to last year. Trips from Japan to China have increased 200 percent.

The top 10 inbound cities are Shanghai, Beijing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Xi'an.

Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an are the most popular travel destinations for inbound tourists. More than 54 percent tourists choose Beijing, 14.5 percent go to Shanghai and 9.2 percent visit Xi'an.

Inbound tourists also promote tourism of cities along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, or "One Belt, One Road".
