Security scanners are being installed in ticket halls and ticket-holders will be subject to compulsory security checks prior to boarding their trains.
Controlled knives and other dangerous articles are to be banned from being taken into stations.
Additional metal detectors are also being set up, and will be put into use soon.
Mannul security checks will be adopted during peak travel times, according to a member of staff at the Beijing Railway Station.
Knives with blades measuring more than 22 cm in length, and those with blades more than 15 cm long and a point angle of less than 60 degrees, are classified as "controlled knives" in China.
