U.S. to Ease Visa Application in Hong Kong

The U.S. consulate general in Hong Kong has announced a set of new initiatives to promote travel to the United States, including an easier visa application process for Hong Kong residents.

At a press conference at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on Thursday, George Hogeman, Consular Chief of the U.S. Consulate General for Hong Kong and Macau, said new streamlined visa application procedures would soon go into effect.

First, a new, web-based information system (www.ustraveldocs.com) will be available starting March 16 to assist applicants with their visa applications.

A new call center will open on March 18. The current call center has been operating for eight years and charges a service fee. The new one will be free of charge.

In addition, visa applicants will be able to book appointments through a convenient online system associated with the new website or by speaking with a call center agent.
