Tourism revenue at $202b in 1st half

The National Tourism Administration of China said on July 11 that the total tourism revenue was 1.28 trillion yuan ($202 billion) in the first half of the year, up 17.3 percent, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The number of people taking domestic trips hit 1.55 billion with a year-on-year increase of 14.6 percent.

The revenue of domestic travels was 1.13 trillion yuan, up 20.1 percent year on year, according to Wang Zhifa, vice-director of the NTA.

The number of inbound trips was 66.25 million. Chinese people made a total of 38 million overseas visits during the first half of the year, up 18 percent over the same period last year.

China has introduced several policies to improve the development of the tourism industry in the first half of the year.
