Insulating Chinese Residential Builings

Protecting the environment before our coastlines are swallowed up and deserts triple in size is a big deal. Unfortunately many (most) western governments are still arguing about carbon tax, renewable energy and public transport. Gotta love democracies.

In the meantime China has embarked on a massive program to reduce the carbon footprint of residential buildings by insulating them. In the last couple of years work teams have been going around major cities covering the walls and roofs older residential buildings in sheets of foam roughly 10 centimeters thick.

It sounds and looks crazy but it keeps the masses happy, gives plenty of opportunity for graft, boosts employment, turns buildings into toxic fire hazards and may even work.

There is are malicious and spiteful rumours going around that contractors and local governments have been working hand in hand to use thinner substandard foam and pocketing the savings. Completely unfounded because you all know that could never happen in China icon smile Environmentally Friendly Buildings the Chinese Way
